the film itself was absolutely wonderful and refreshing. i love keri russell (who will forever be "felicity" in my heart) and nathan fillion. the film had an incredible ensemble cast and i can't imagine the roles being played by anyone else.
the movie itself is an unconventional romantic comedy of sorts that tells the story of a lonely waitress named jenna (played by keri russell) that's stuck in a marriage and unhappy with her life. the only thing that brings her a sense of happiness is the assortment of pies that she bakes on a daily basis. then she finds out that she's pregnant and that it probably happened the night her husband got her drunk. when she goes to the doctor, she finds that her lifelong doctor has semi-retired and finds herself the patient of a new doctor named dr. pomatter (nathan fillion) who inspires her to take charge of her life and make something more of it.
waitress is definitely an actor's film. it is definitely the characters that drive this film from start to finish. it is smart, surprisingly funny, sad, and refreshing all at once. i would gladly go see this movie again.
on a scale of 1-5 jim halpert heads, 1 being jim moving to stamford (bad), 5 being jim and pam finally hooking up (the awesomest, best thing in the world), i rate this movie 4 jim heads:
waitress stars: keri russell, nathan fillion, cheryl hines, adrienne shelly, jeremy sisto, andy griffith. opens in limited release may 2nd.
