even the new york times is dumbfounded

"How does George W. Bush, a towel-snapping Texan who puts his feet on the coffee table, drinks water straight from the bottle and was once caught on tape talking with food in his mouth prepare for a state dinner with the queen?"
the hottest ticket in town isn't in hollywood tonight. it's not in new york city either. instead, it's in the glamourous, glitzy town of...washington dc? republicans and democrats alike will join together for the white-tie dinner at the white house tonight to honor queen elizabeth II and her husband prince phillip.

although queen elizabeth has been stateside for a few days now (including visits to jamestown and kentucky), this is the first time she will have visited the white house since 1991.
i know it's an honor to be invited to something like this. but i can't help but laugh when i look at the picture above. maybe i'd be more excited if it were dinner with helen mirren.
