according to research by job website careerbuilder, some of our favorite tv characters don't make nearly as much as their lifestyles lead us to believe. for example, surgical resident dr. meredith grey would only make an average of $37K a year as a surgical resident. and betty suarez would only make about $37K a year as well as an administrative assistant. and poor pam beasley? as a receptionist, she stands to only make about $23K a year. of course, that money stretches a lot further in scranton than other larger metropolitan areas.
