lindsay lohan's current movie,
georgia rule, is the latest casuality at the box office. despite having icon
jane fonda and oscar nominee
felicity huffman (not to mention the perfect weekend- mother's day!), the movie had only a $5.9 million dollar opening.
maybe if the movie didn't co-star lindsay lohan, the movie would have fared better. don't believe me?
let's take a look at her previous projects:2004- mean girls. her last hit both critically and at the box office.
2005- herbie fully loaded. a disney movie remake. makes $66 million dollars. not bad for a family movie. we'll let this one slide.
2006- a prairie home companion. wonderful cast surrounding little lindsay. the robert altman film made only 20 million at the box office. but being it's an ensemble movie, i GUESS we can't blame lindsay.
2006- just my luck. okay, lindsay is totally responsible for this crap. 17 million at the box office.
2006- bobby. another ensemble movie. lindsay again is fortunate enough to mask her mediocre performance with a (and b) list actors. 11 million at the box office.
for argument's sake, let's say there are other actresses that could've done the job better. off the top of my head: jessica alba, jessica biel, scarlett johansson, anne hathaway, katie holmes, kate bosworth, mischa barton, rachel bilson, hilary duff, mandy moore, kirsten dunsst, sienna miller, kate hudson, drew barrymore....oh you get it. ANYONE else could have made these movies better. i'll even throw the olsen twins in there.
so
for someone who wants to win an oscar and be known for more than just a party girl, she has a long way to go.
