preview: tonight's lost "greatest hits"

well, lost has been on a winning streak if you ask me (especially after last week's MIND BLOWING episode). tonight sounds like it's going to keep the streak alive and set up a bunch of stuff for the two hour finale next week.
here's the official summary from abc:
While Jack devises a plan to do away with "The Others" once and for all, Sayid uncovers a flaw in "The Others'" system that could lead to everyone's rescue. But it requires Charlie to take on a dangerous task that may make Desmond's premonition come true.
for clips of tonight's AWESOME looking episode, click here. jack kinda looks like he might be cool again.
also, a friend of mine sent me this CRAZY (but so crazy it might actually be perfect) theory about the entire existence of the island. if you're up to reading it, click here. not a spoiler, just a theory.
BUT, if you are in a spoiler-y mood, another friend of mine sent me spoiler for tonight's episode and next week's two hour finale. like, these are REALLY BIG spoilers. consider yourself warned. if you click here, there's no turning back. not sure if they are foilers, but i will say that if even HALF of the stuff they say actually ends up happening in the finale, it will be the best finale lost has had in it's three seasons. like MAJOR cliffhanger.
ok, so watch tonight. go on living your life.

10:00 p.m. "Brothers & Sisters"

let's talk comedies for a second. sam i am. promising cast (christina applegate, jennifer esposito, jean smart), but "women's" comedies don't really fare well. hell, comedies don't fare well period on this network. but let's keep going. cavemen. based on geico commercials. has nick kroll in it. has amazing and awesome written all over it. carpoolers. ugh, even the title bores me. stars jerry o'connell. NEXT! miss/guided. not on the schedule, but on the press release. this can't be good.

and as far as dramas, SEVEN, count 'em, seven new ones. but, abc has always fared well with the one hour dramas. at least, in the last two years they have. although i don't know about a wednesday night built around ALL NEW shows. kinda gutsy. we've already seen private practice (grey's 2.0). as for the others, who knows. james patterson novel and candace bushnell rip offs.

then we have the oprah show (aka, the "alternative" series). oprah finally finds a way to give away money, but make it back (a la, produce a tv show) all at the same time. something about giving money away to people in different cities. i think i'll just keep watching oprah in the afternoons.

so on day two, nbc has all the good comedies and heroes. but abc has all the good dramas and promising new comedies. i'll call it a tie.

recap: lost- "the man behind the curtain"

*spoiler alert! do not read if you have not seen the 5/9 episode*
ok, on the upside, lost is officially back. seriously. it had all of the WTF moments that made season one fantastic. the downside is that there are only 2 more episodes left in the season. the other upside is that there is definitely an end in sight for the show, which means this shizz is gonna get wrapped up. the other downside, 48 episodes is a looooong time.

in last night's episode, we not only got a highly anticipated ben flashback, but we also got an ending with a bang. literally.

we learn that ben's mom died while giving birth to ben. and contrary to popular belief, ben wasn't born on the island, but instead 32 miles outside of portland. oh, and that uncle rico from napolean dynamite is his dad. years later, we see ben and his dad arrive at the island. they are there to join other members of the dharma initiative and work on the island. one night, young ben takes the code to the sonic fence and unarms it. uses a bunny to see if it's safe to cross. when he goes into the jungle, young ben encounters a man (who appears to be richard). young ben tells the man he wants to join him. the man tells him to be patient. time passes and ben is older. once again, uncle rico (ben's dad) has forgotten ben's birthday (a reccuring theme throughout the night's episode). ben helps his dad pack up the van to make a drop at the pearl station. when they reach the mesa, they stop. ben looks at his watch and puts on a gas mask and kills his dad with nerve gas.

flash forward to real time events. locke brings his dead father's body (courtesy of sawyer) to the others camp. locke asks ben to tell him everything about the island. ben tells locke that a man named jacob is the leader of the island, but he doesn't talk to anyone but ben. locke doesn't care and ben reluctantly agrees to take locke to meet jacob.

ben and locke reach a small house. ben advises locke to leave his flashlight off as "jacob hates technology". when they go in, they have a very norman bates moment when ben introduces jacob to locke, only to have locke stare at an empty chair. ben continues to full out have a conversation with said empty chair. locke clearly thinks ben is crazy and begins to leave when he hears a voice say "help me". locke turns around with his flashlight on and crap starts flying all around the room. locke leaves, ben is thrown in the air. locke asks ben what was in there, and he simply replies "that was jacob."

on their way back, ben takes them on a different route and shows locke the mass grave full of skeletons wearing dharma coveralls. ben tells locke that the his group couldn't co-exist with the original inhabitants of the island. ben made sure he wasn't in that group that died, and tells locke that he wasn't smart like him. locke turns around and ben shoots him in the abdomen. locke falls into the pit. ben asks locke what jacob said to him. when locke tells him, he replies by saying that locke had better hope jacob will help him.

meanwhile, while all that crap happens, back on the beach, juliet is revealed as a mole. when they play the recording and confront her, jack says that he knew the whole time.

so, questions:
-first of all, is locke dead??? the producers did say that there would be a few deaths before the finale, but i refuse to think locke is one of them. after all, the island does heal people faster than usual. and the island hearts locke.
-how the hell has richard not aged, yet ben is like 30 years older?
-why is ben the leader, and not richard?
-why couldn't ben hear what jacob said to locke?
-who the hell is jacob? for realsies!
-is it just me, or in the split second that we saw jacob, did it not look like locke with a wig? (thanks mark)

spoiler alert...eh, no one watches the bachelor anyway

according to the ny post, the identity of the the bachelor's paramour has been revealed!

for those of you who actually care, keep reading.

Naval officer Andy Baldwin has narrowed the field of women down to three lucky ladies, but one contestant, Tessa, 26, a social worker from San Francisco, had a few drinks the other night and spilled the beans to a Page Six spy. Tessa admitted she has won the competition and Baldwin's heart. "Apparently he proposes and she declines, but they are still very much together." A rep for the show didn't return calls.
hmm...so first of all, she admitted she "won". do you win at dating? no seriously. i'm asking. it's been so long since i've been on a real date that i forgot.
secondly, they describe it as a comptetition. and i'm not trying to negate that it is in fact a competition. but there's something strange about trying to find "true love" and "soul mates" and all that crap in something that is described as a competition.
but like i said, it's been so long since i've been on a date that i'd hate to eat my own words and go to one of these open casting calls. someone help me.

preview: tonight's lost- "the man behind the curtain"

last week's lost was focused mainly on sawyer and locke. sawyer met locke's dad, and realized that he was the real sawyer. so what did he do? kill him. in exchange, locke warned sawyer that the others were planning to invade the beach and take the pregnant women (i.e. sun). he also gave him proof to take back to the camp that juliet was a mole.
considering that tonight's episode is titled "the man behind the curtain", i can't help but think that we'll learn a little more on who exactly is behind the whole island thing. here's a summary of tonight's episode:
Ben begrudgingly begins to let Locke in on the island's secrets. The first one involves the mysterious Jacob. Meanwhile, Juliet's secret is out. Flashbacks follow Ben.
for a sneak peek at tonight's episode, you can see one of the scenes here.

dancing with the stars B and C list celebs

i am so over this show. but i started watching this season, so i feel the need to see it through for whatever reason. although it was cute that laily dedicated her waltz to her dad muhammed ali (who was in the audience) and blew him a kiss.
so there's five left: laila ali, apolo ohno, ian ziering, joey fatone, and billy ray cyrus. last night was the quarter-finals (i think...since the semi-finals are next week) about a month ago, i predicted ian ziering would take the disco-ball trophy, i now have a new prediction: laila ali and apolo anton ohno in the finals, with apolo winning the whole damn thing.

they are the only two that blow the judges away every week. joey fat-one is pretty good too. but one judge doesn't like his "razzle dazzle".

so while i'm sorta over this show, it does make me wanna learn to ballroom dance. and it's the best show to watch in fast-forward.

the most interesting thing about last night's episode: mel b (yes, of spice girls fame) and chris kirkpatrick (yes, of 'nsync) were in the audience. i have no idea who mel b was supporting, but i love seeing her on tv. eff you eddie murphy!

as for who's getting kicked off tonight: billy ray cyrus has danced his last waltz. not even all the hannah montana votes in the world can save him from elimination.

lost will be found on abc for only three more years

according to an article posted in variety, the popular abc series lost will end it's run during the 2009-2010 season.

in other surprising news, after the season 3 finale (which airs later this month) the show will produce 48 more episodes, which will air over three shortened 16-episode seasons.

producers damon lindelof and carlton cuse only wanted the show to continue for two more seasons (which is equivalent to the 48 episodes over three years).
