i'm more excited at the possibility of a spice girls reunion...for realsies. apparently there's going to be a "big announcement" next week. so stay tuned!

hear here: listen to excerpts of kelly clarkson's new album "my december"

kelly clarkson's third album "my december" comes out later this month (june 26), but aol has short excerpts of three of the songs on the album (in addition to "never again"). i will say that "sober", "can i have a kiss" and "maybe" do show a lot more rawness and emotion. all i have to say is hell hath no fury like a woman scorn. some dude totally effed her up. all of these songs are about breaking up and heartbreak. MAJOR downer. but with that said, there's always room for some of that music. somewhere there's a 14 year old (or 26 year old like me) that is pissed and needs to let it all out. so, let it all out girl. let it all out. i'll buy the album. i promise.

click here to preview the new songs.

la lohan wants to make more music

according to mtv news:

Lindsay Lohan says it's a little strange being #1 on Maxim's "Hot 100." "It's really flattering," she told MTV News last week, "but it does get kind of awkward." Lohan also revealed that she plans to begin work on a new album soon. "We'll start in probably June or July and take four months," she explained. Lohan said she's collaborating with Maverick Records CEO Guy Oseary on the disc, which will have an "urban pop" sound.

hmmm...i have no idea what "urban pop"sounds like, but i'm willing to take a few guesses:
  • nails scratching on a chalkboard
  • the sanitation department trucks collecting garbage on a friday morning
  • a bulemic puking into a toilet
  • 30 seconds to mars
i think i'll pass on lindsay's music...again.

kelly's new album, still on.

despite rumors of her new album being scrapped, kelly clarkson's third album, my december, will be released in july.
not only will the album be released (despite rumors that clive davis was "absolutely merciless with his critcism of kelly"), but the critics are loving it.
her first single "never again" debuted at no. 8 on the billboard chart and she begins a summer tour in portland on july 11th.

hear here: fun covers!

there was a time in college when every girl in my dorm was obessesed with new artist (at the time) macy gray. every girl was particularly obsessed with her hit "i try". i don't know maybe it had to do with all the broken up they left back in high school. anyway, built to spill does a pretty cool cover. [mp3]

long island favorites brand new do a surprisingly awesome cover of neutral milk hotel's "oh comely" [mp3]

a scandinavian musician named named jasper henricksen covers aaliyah's "try again". who would've ever thought that r&b could translate so easily into acoustic rock? [mp3]
